Retention & Deletion
How long information is needed, what deletion means, and when records must be preserved.
Version 1.0 · Prepared 16 October 2026
1. Retention schedule
| Data class | Default target | Reason / exception |
|---|---|---|
| Account/profile and number assignment | Account lifetime; deletion workflow normally completed within 30 days | Fraud, appeal, recovery and legal-hold exceptions |
| Messages and attachments | Until user/conversation deletion or configured retention expires | Recipient copies, reports, channels, backups and preservation may differ |
| Call signalling and quality metadata | 12 months | Shorter geo policy or longer dispute/legal hold |
| Call media | Not retained by default; authorised recordings until user deletion or configured expiry | Exported copies are controlled by the exporter |
| Precise shared location | Same as the message or live-share duration | Security report or lawful preservation |
| IP, login, device and session security logs | 12 months after event or device removal | Longer for substantiated abuse, ban evasion or law |
| Support tickets and ordinary appeals | 24 months after closure | Legal dispute or regulator request |
| Moderation reports and decisions | 24 months; up to 5 years for serious/repeated safety abuse | Proportional evidence and repeat-infringer duties |
| KalCoin ledger, purchases, refunds and accounting | 7 years or the locally required tax/accounting period | Public blockchain records cannot be deleted by Kaltiq |
| Admin/audit and legal-request logs | 7 years unless local policy requires less or more | Integrity, accountability and legal defence |
| Encrypted backups | Rolling expiry targeted within 90 days | Restored data is re-subjected to deletion queues |
2. Account deletion
After verification, Kaltiq disables sign-in, revokes active sessions and begins deletion or de-identification. Identifiers may enter quarantine before returning to the pool. Outstanding disputes, negative/fraud adjustments and legally retained ledger entries remain restricted. Content already delivered to another user or made public is not automatically removed from their account or copies.
3. Message deletion
“Delete for me” hides a message from the requester but may leave it available to others. “Delete for everyone” requests removal of active copies Kaltiq controls, subject to time limits, moderation evidence, recipient exports and law. Tombstones may remain briefly to synchronise deletion across devices.
4. Legal holds and preservation
A valid preservation demand, litigation hold, safety emergency, payment dispute or regulator instruction pauses deletion only for relevant data. Held information is access-restricted, documented and deleted after the hold and any required defence period end.
5. Country policies
The compliance engine may apply a shorter country/data-class schedule. A longer period is used only when supported by a documented legal obligation or necessity. The effective rule is the shortest applicable period unless law requires preservation.
6. Requests
Request deletion or an explanation from the privacy/DPO contact at admin@kaltiq.com. We may verify identity and explain lawful exceptions. Appeals: appeals@kaltiq.com.
